Preparations are underway as Salt and Tar in Bootle begins derigging and relocating to its new home at Lock and Quay for this year’s Music Weekender.
The move comes as part of the exciting regeneration works at Bootle Strand, ensuring the event continues to thrive while major improvements take place in the town centre.
Materials from the original site are being carefully preserved for future use and shared with local organisations to support community projects.
The Music Weekender will remain the same size and capacity, offering the same incredible experience for visitors in its new location. So, if you notice activity at the Salt and Tar site, it’s all part of the transformation and an exciting step towards another fantastic event in 2026.
Cllr Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Skills and Employment, said:
“Salt and Tar has quickly become a highlight in Bootle’s calendar, and while regeneration works are underway, we’re making sure the Music Weekender continues without compromise. Moving to Lock and Quay is an exciting opportunity to keep the event vibrant and accessible while we deliver improvements that will benefit the whole community.
“This year’s line-up is already shaping up to be incredible, with The Waterboys, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, and The Saw Doctors confirmed, and we’ll be announcing a final headliner very soon.”
The regeneration of Bootle is underway with exciting plans to relaunch Salt and Tar back at its home site in 2027.
