Reuters Bar & Grill in Southport town centre is closing after falling victim to “the cost of living crisis”.
News of the closure comes just a month after Matt Howard, who runs the venue, was awarded the Publican of the Year title at an awards ceremony held by Punch Pubs.
He paid tribute to his “amazing team”, who are supporting each other with the popular venue set to close its doors at the end of this month.
Matt said: “It is with great sadness that we have to confirm some of the ‘rumours’ that we will be closing down at the close of business on Sunday 29th May.
“Unfortunately due to increased costs and so much uncertainty we have fallen victim to the cost of living crisis…
“I am proud to have such an amazing team working with me here, and we are all working together through our final weeks to support each other.”

Last month Matt was nominated for his Publican of the Year award by Punch Pubs Area Operations Manager Rick Rose-Coultard, who is responsible for pubs across Lancashire and Cumbria. The ceremony, at The Plough, in Alnwick in Northumberland, was sponsored by Carlsberg-Marstons Brewing Company.
Over the past few months, staff at Rueters benefited from some top class training and support, while the business has made the most of the Government’s Kickstarter scheme to give opportunities to young people on Universal Credit and between the ages of 18 and 24.
Reuters provided them with training, skills and helped them build a CV and paid for additional training for qualifications.

Christmas was also a time when Rueters bar and grill really stood out.
The venue won Best Dressed Pub at Christmas for the region within Punch Pubs (North of England and Scotland).
