Reginald D Hunter

Since his first UK comedy gig 21 years ago Georgia-born Reginald D Hunter’s searingly honest observations both onstage and on TV and radio have garnered him a cross-generational fan base.

During that time he has become one of the comedy industry’s best-known performers for his distinctive take on the most diverse range of subjects. His work can be brutally honest and is often considered to be controversial but it is always meticulously thought out and he has never been afraid to face challenging issues head on even when the focus is on his own principles or beliefs.

He reached the final of So You Think You Are Funny in 1998 during his first visit to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and was nominated for The Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer in 2002 for his debut full-length show I Am What I Am. He was then nominated for The Edinburgh Comedy Awards main prize in 2003 for White Woman and 2004 for A Mystery Wrapped In A Nigga.

In 2006 he won the Writers’ Guild Award for Comedy for his show Pride and Prejudice and Niggas.

His TV appearances have included Never Mind The Buzzcocks, QI and Have I Got News For You? He also filmed two series of the BBC2’s hugely popular Reginald D Hunter’s Songs Of The South & Reginald D Hunter’s Songs of The Border, documenting Reginald’s epic road trip through 150 years of American popular song.

Jo Caulfield

Whether you’ve seen her on TV shows such as “Have I Got News For You” or “Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow”, heard her on the radio on “Just a Minute” or “Stop The Press”, or caught her live at one of her award-winning Edinburgh Festival shows, the chances are you’re already familiar with Jo Caulfield’s work.

Described by The Observer as “one of the finest female comics at work” and by The Scotsman as “quite simply, a damn funny woman” Jo can regularly be seen headlining the UK’s biggest and best comedy clubs.

Behind scenes Jo is a respected writer, having served as a writer / programme consultant on all five series of Graham Norton’s BAFTA Award winning “So Graham Norton” and as head writer on both Ruby Wax’s “Waiting Game” and Zoe Ball’s “Strictly Dance Fever”. Jo has also written for – among others – Joan Rivers, Ant & Dec and Anne Robinson.

In 2018 she won the “SGFringe Stand-Up Comedy Award” and gained critical acclaim for her performance as Helena Brandt in the sell-out Fringe run of the play, Brexit.

Reginald D Hunter and Jo Caulfield are performing in the final week of the 17 day Festival, which ends this Sunday.

Also performing on Sunday, 17th October is The (Steve) Royle Variety Performance (2pm start)

Courtesy of Elite Marquees, this year’s Festival is being staged in a giant luxury marquee in Victoria Park, in Southport, home of the world-renowned Southport Flower Show. The Festival is sponsored by Anthony James Estate Agents
