People can enjoy a stylish fundraising day out with Royal Ascot Ladies Day in Southport.
This special fundraising event takes place at The Grand on Lord Street in Southport on Thursday 19th June 2025, with arrival from 12.30pm.
It is being organised by the North West Cancer Research Southport Committee with all funds raised going to support vital work into improving cures for cancer.
The Committee already raises sufficient funds each year to pay the salary of a Cancer Research assistant in Liverpool, making a real difference in our local area.
The Royal Ascot Ladies Day is keen to welcome both men and women with individual tickets and tables available.
Guests will be able to enjoy:
- Pimms on arrival
- A delicious two-course menu
- Cheese platter
- Singing by Wendy Chalke
- Raffle Draw Extravaganza
- Prizes for Best Dressed Lady and Gent at the event
- Pop-up shops including Estee Lauder from John Lewis and Cares clothing store
Tickets are available at: North West Cancer Research | Royal Ascot Ladies’ Day
North West Cancer Research Southport Committee Chair Jane Sinclair said:
“This is our first big fundraising event at The Grand in Southport and we are really excited for it!
“It is an absolutely stunning venue. It is very accessible too, right on Lord Street in Southport town centre, just a few minutes’ walk from Southport train station and with a free car park to the rear of the building. It’s perfect not just for people from Southport, but also for anyone coming from places such as Liverpool, Manchester, Wigan, Preston and Burnley.
“Come and join us for an unforgettable afternoon of glamour, good company, and racing excitement as we bring the thrill of Royal Ascot to the heart of Southport.
“Gather your friends, dress to impress, and celebrate one of the most elegant days in the racing calendar – all while supporting North West Cancer Research.
“Tickets are great value at £55 per person or £550 for a table of ten.
“We are excited to be hosting this event inside such a beautiful venue and are grateful for the support of Ged Janssen and all the team at The Grand.
“For anyone who would like to make a longer day of it, you also have the option to arrive earlier and enjoy drinks with friends in Sirocco on the ground floor of The Grand before moving upstairs to the event in the Princess Grace function suite on the first floor.
“After Royal Ascot Ladies Day has finished, if the weather is good, we can then go up and enjoy a visit to Harry’s Bar, the stylish new rooftop bar and terrace which opened on the top floor of The Grand last year.
“If anyone would like to stay over the evening, then hotel rooms will be available to book at the Grand’s sister venues, either at The Lord Street Hotel next door, or at The Bold Hotel – which has just won the Southport Hotel Of The Year Award – right across the road.”
There is lots to enjoy at the Royal Ascot Ladies Day.
Jane Sinclair said:
“Get dressed to impress and really go for it, and have a really fun day out!
“Cares clothing shop will be donating prizes of new outfits to our Best Dressed Lady and our Best Dressed Gent.
“We were devastated recently to lose our great friend, Madelaine Cruickshank, to cancer. Madeleine had been on our fundraising committee in Southport for 30 years and had achieved so much to support North West Cancer Research.
“We will be naming the accolade The Madelaine Cruickshank Best Dressed Lady Award in her honour.
“We are delighted to welcome Deputy Lord Lieutenant Julie Lawson BEM and her husband Ron among our guests.
“Carol Kirkham, the Chief Fundraiser at North West Cancer Research, will also be with us, while we hope one of their researchers will be able to speak at the event.
“Wendy Chalke is a superb local singer and we are looking forward to her singing hits from the ‘60s to the present. We are very lucky to have Wendy with us.
“We have some fantastic prizes to be won in our Raffle Extravaganza thanks to support from local businesses. They include:
- £50 voucher from Coco Boutique
- £100 Langs of Longton restaurant voucher
- Designer scarf from Shaw’s of Hillside
- Afternoon tea for two at The Grand
- £50 jewellery voucher at Abbott Lyon
