Queenscourt Hospice in Southport has launched its ‘Big Give’ campaign for 2021, with the aim of raising £43,000 needed to fund a Palliative Care Nurse.
The Big Give, a national fundraising initiative, is the UK’s biggest online match-funding campaign, where donations made online during the week-long campaign are doubled, up to a limit.
This effectively means one donation, twice the impact.
Queenscourt Hospice is a local charity with a big reach, providing essential palliative care for people across West Lancashire, Formby and Southport. As Queenscourt celebrates its Pearl Anniversary and 30 years of providing compassionate care, the hospice is taking part in the ‘Big Give’, which runs until next Tuesday (7th December).
Queenscourt is now launching its new and vital Big Give campaign following the success of last year’s Christmas Challenge. The hospice raised £11,500 towards new inpatient unit beds which, with their low height setting and in-built alarm sensors, are helping to improve patient comfort and safety.
The target for this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge is to raise £43,000 in total, and every pound raised will go exclusively towards covering all of the expenses associated with employing a Queenscourt Hospice Nurse for a year.
InPatient Unit Nurses at Queenscourt are highly skilled with unwavering compassion, providing direct care every single day. They relieve pain, preserve dignity, ease anxiety, help to create treasured memories and ensure that no one faces their illness alone.
It is an essential role at the hospice and will help Queenscourt continue caring for patients and their families, when they need it the most.
Joanna Frankland is a staff nurse on Queenscourt’s InPatient Unit.
She said: “I really enjoy spending quality time with the patient and their family, hearing their stories and history.
“I love going home knowing I have had the time to really care for them and support them during a difficult time.”
Queenscourt is hoping this year’s campaign, with the Margaret Robertson Charitable Trust as its main pledger, will be equally as successful.
Donations can only be made online until Tuesday 7th December.

With thanks to Queenscourt’s main pledger, The Margaret Robertson Charitable Trust, all donations up to £10,900 received throughout this period will be doubled.

You really make it seem really easy along with your presentation however I find this matter to be really one thing that I feel I might never understand. It sort of feels too complex and extremely broad for me. I’m taking a look forward for your next submit, I’ll attempt to get the dangle of it!
