“We are really excited for the Christmas and New Year season! We’re enjoying a busy final week before Christmas Day, and then beyond.

“We have been busy, we have so much choice for customers. We’re enjoying seeing everyone.

“For the first time, we have some new Christmas boxes on sale. These have been carefully curated to include some of our very best bottles of wines, sparkling wines and spirits, along with competitive pricing that saves people money on the recommended retail price (RRP).

“The boxes have been really popular. They make a fantastic Christmas gift, whether it’s for someone you’re giving it to, or yourself!

“We have various choices available, although ‘Phil’s Favourite Reds’ has already sold out.

“If there’s something you see that you like, please put your orders in – once they’re gone, they’re gone.

“These boxes have been so popular this year that I’m looking to extend the range next year to offer even more. I’m happy to hear feedback from customers about what they would like to see.

“Of course, being a local independent business, what we can also offer is unique boxes.

“If you let us know what you like – whether it’s a type of wine, or a country they’re from, or a type of spirit, or a budget you’d like us to work to then please let me know and we can create something very special and unique for you, hyper personalised.”

Shoppers are invited to call into Portland Wine Cellars and browse through the wide selection on the shelves.

There is lots there which has come directly from suppliers that you won’t find in supermarkets and big shops.

Phil and Dave are on hand to answer any questions or to give any advice needed.

There are some real gems available.

Phil said:

“We have some really fantastic bottles waiting for people. They include 40-year-old Graham’s Port, which is available for £225 per bottle.

“We have a wonderful selection of Champagne, Prosecco and sparkling wines including a house Champagne, Gallimard, which is £32.50 per non-vintage bottle, or £40 for a vintage bottle.

“We also have a special exclusive whisky – bottles of 16-year-old Glenfiddich for £90.

“For people who love cream liqueurs such as Baileys, we have something we think you’ll love – Arran Gold, at £26 per bottle.

“It’s produced by the Arran Distillery and uses proper whisky which gives it a much creamier taste – there is a real smoothness to it. You don’t get that burning aftertaste you sometimes get with some other cream liqueurs.”

Also popular is the brand new Portland Wine Cellars website which was launched earlier this year.

Phil said:

“Word is spreading about our new website which offers something new for our customers.

“It means you can still call into our shop and see us, or you can order from the comfort of your own home. It’s great for people who are busy this Christmas.

“We deliver in the Southport area (PR8 and PRP postcodes), with free delivery on any orders £40 or over.

“This is a last shout-out for Christmas deliveries – the final day to place your orders for online deliveries before Christmas is on Monday (22nd December 2025).

“We are then closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day with the shop reopening on Saturday 27th December, ready for everyone looking to get your New Year orders ready!

“While this is a really busy time for us, Portland Wine Cellars is not just here over the Christmas and new year season, we’re here all year round too.”

Portland Wine Cellars has been a prominent wine and spirits merchant for over 100 years, located at the corner of Portland Street and Sefton Street in Southport, with free parking outside.
