A popular children’s play centre near Southport has come up with the perfect response to being placed in lockdown – building beach huts!

Jollie’s Barn, at The Gravel in Mere Brow, between Southport and Tarleton, has become a popular facility among thousands of local families in recent years.

They were told to close with Lancashire placed into Tier 3 last month. They will discover if there is any change in that when Health Secretary Matt Hancock reveals the new Tier locations tomorrow.

But rather than sitting back with their feet up, the owners at Jollie’s Barn decided they would make their play centre even better (if that’s possible)!

Local families are going to love their new addition.

They said: “At the beginning of the second lockdown we were given LOADS of free wood that wasn’t being used…

“Not ones for sitting still, the Jollie’s Family got our thinking caps on and came up with this idea!

“I am so excited to tell you that we took an old, unused area of the Barn and have completed our ‘Under the Sea’ area with our very own beach hut seating booths!

“From a tired old corner to five bright, comfortable and Covid safe fun booths for you to enjoy your stay.

“Each one offers a different view of our brightly coloured play area… we just LOVE them!

“Everything from building the booths, painting, the seating pads, the tables and our friend ‘Steven Seagull’ – were all done by our very own hands…

“Not only does this provide a fun area for you and the children to sit – it’s safe and practical too!

“We have perspex arriving tomorrow.

“We’ve been working so hard to try and get this finished for a potential opening but we’ll have to wait and see what they say tomorrow.

“We hope you like them…”
