A man has been arrested following a burglary at a nail salon in Southport which is believed to be linked to three other shop burglaries in the town.
At around 11.15pm on Sunday 5 October 2026, officers were called to a report that a nail salon on Nevill Street had been broken into and a cash register containing money had been stolen.
Police attended and following enquiries located a suspect nearby.
Further investigations established potential links to three other business burglaries in the vicinity which occurred in similar circumstances over recent days.
Two barber shops were broken into and cash registers were stolen, while an attempt was made to burgle a gift shop.
A 28-year-old man from Southport was arrested on suspicion of three counts of burglary of business premises and one count of attempted burglary of business premises.
He has since been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
Sefton Area Commander Karl Baldwin said:
