Plans for the ‘Tower Of Hope’ are still on track for Southport afer plans were today revealed for the opening of ‘The Grand’ this summer.
Construction work has been taking place on the former Grand Casino site on Lord Street in Southport after its purchase by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group.
The firm is leading the regeneration of ‘The Northern Quarter’ of Lord Street, having opened a number of successful venues there including: The Bold Hotel, the Lord Street Hotel, Lord Street Sports Bar and Punch Tarmey’s Irish Pub, while also operating the feature bar inside Southport Market.
Today the firm unveiled its ambitions to open ‘The Grand’ on the site of the former Grand Casino building in June this summer, creating 60 new jobs and: four high-end bars, a brasserie restaurant, and a 250-seater function space and wedding suite. Two of the bars will be stylish rooftop terrace bars.
Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group is investing £3million in the redevelopment of ‘The Grand’.
The Grand will be Phase One of a multi-million scheme which will redevelop the whole site.
Phase 2 being a Wellness Centre, Spa and hotel rooms.
Phase 3 will be the Tower Of Hope.

There are various roles available which will be based within the much-anticipated new venue. Andrew Mikhail, Chairman of Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group said: “I am thrilled to be able to create so many local jobs for the area with the regeneration of The Grand.
“The opening of this striking venue will attract both locals and tourists to enjoy a five-star experience and we need a five-star team in order to provide that experience.

“I can’t wait to bring The Grand back to life and the staff will become the beating heart of the venue.”
Designed to be one of the North’s tallest towers, The Tower Of Hope would become a new landmark feature on the North West coastline generating scores of new jobs and attracting from across the UK.
Design and imagery for the project are being created by Southport-based Clayton Architecture.
The tower would stand 48 storeys high and 178 metres tall.
It would house over :
- 140 high quality one, two and three bedroom residential apartments
- Top quality restaurant
- 109 five star hotel rooms
- Amazing wedding venue
- Fun-themed bar
- Substantial car park
The health and wellbeing centre in Phase Two of the scheme would include a state-of-the-art gym and spa, along with providing green spaces for exercise and community activities to support people with physical and mental health needs.
Andrew Mikhail said: “This will be the single biggest project that will have come to Southport since anyone can remember.
“The plans for this landmark building incorporating The Grand Casino will connect the past, present and future of Southport together.”
