As its World Book Day let’s take a look inside a real Southport hidden gem – the amazing Parkinson’s Books on Lord Street!

It’s been here for generations of visitors, who come here for the huge choice of books, the extensive collection of vinyl and CDs – while many children know it as ‘the seashell shop’!

While this shop has been here for decades, not everyone knows about it, as you find it by heading down the alley between Lakeland Leather shop and the Occulo Lounge cafe, near the junction with Nevill Street.

It’s one of the unique, independent, family owned shops which makes Southport, and Lord Street, unique.

Parkinson’s Books runs some iconic music events too under local DJ and shop owner Andy Parkinson – look out for a stellar line up of DJs on the bill for their Record Store Day celebration coming up on 12th April
