Volunteers are being invited to call in and support the work of the British Heart Foundation Southport Furniture & Electrical Store.

The impressive outlet is based at 116 Lord Street, in Southport town centre, in part of the former Woolworths building.

There are roles available to suit people with a variety of skills and ages, with members of the team ranging from teenagers to those in their 80s!

There are opportunities to learn new skills, meet new friends and help a charity which does so much good in the local community.

British Heart Foundation Southport Furniture & Electrical Store Manager Michael said: “We are always looking for new volunteers to come and join us.

“We have volunteers from all walks of life, it’s a really great team to be part of.

“There are lots of different roles available, and lots of different hours available.

“We are always grateful for anyone who can help us out, whether it’s for a few hours, or something on a more regular basis.

“We currently have six paid staff and around 25 volunteers, in all types of roles.

“Our oldest volunteer is 84 years old while our youngest is 16!

“It can be a great opportunity for learning new skills and building new skills, or getting back out into the community and re-investing the skills you’ve learned already.

“There are people here from all walks of life.

“People who come and work with us don’t have to have a specific link with the charity, although some do. Some people have been supported by the British Heart Foundation, or have suffered with heart issues.

“We’d love to hear from anyone who wants to find out more.”

Whether you want to upskill, keep busy or meet new people, the store has a role for you.

Heart diseases. Stroke. Vascular dementia. Diabetes. They’re all connected, and they’re all under the BHF microscope.

Volunteers help fund lifesaving science to improve the lives of families and loved ones living with heart and circulatory disease.

Volunteering is easy, flexible, and inclusive. If you can spare a few hours a week, or a couple of hours occasionally, the British Heart Foundation would love you to join their volunteer team.
