More than 40 Sefton businesses from the digital, creative and tech sector came together on Thursday 24th October 2024 at the Lake House Waterloo for the latest Sefton Huddle.
The Huddle is organised by InvestSefton, Sefton Council’s business support and inward investment service. Their aim is to encourage collaborative working, peer mentoring and knowledge sharing in the digital, creative and tech sector locally, and have already resulted in some productive collaborations.
At the October event, after the initial networking, Professor David Reid, Professor of AI and Spatial Computing SMCSE, Liverpool Hope University, gave a presentation on Living in a Technological Flatland: The Metaverse, AI and Mixed Reality.
Francis McEntegart LLB (Hons) Barrister MC Legal Ltd talked about the legalities of content creation, copyright and trademarks.
There was a presentation by Barrington Paul Robinson, film and TV producer from Redbag Pictures Ltd. and a business support update by Julie Swarbrick, Business Growth Adviser at InvestSefton.
Mandy Lalley, owner of local film and TV production company Spacehound Ltd filmed interviews at the recent Huddle event. They can be found at www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MYudHE3yak.
InvestSefton set up the Huddle events in 2023, following consultation with the local digital, creative and tech sector businesses.
Huddles are held three times a year, in February, June and October in locations across the borough.
In between meetings InvestSefton shares information with members on funded business support to aid business growth.
Businesses attending Huddle events have the chance to meet InvestSefton’s digital, creative and tech partner agencies including Innovate UK EDGE, NW Cyber Resilience Centre, BIPC, DBT and LCR Gather.
Around 80 of the sector’s businesses have participated in Huddle meetings to date including software development, web design, animation, data and network services.
As well as attending Huddles Sefton’s digital, creative and tech businesses can also benefit from InvestSefton’s main events programme, which includes upskilling workshops and specialist advice.
They can also attend Sefton Economic Forum events, the next of which takes place on Thursday 14th November 2024 at the Lake House Waterloo with talks on the economy, and over 100 businesses present.
