Over 2,000 music lovers from all corners of the UK are looking forward to enjoying the 2023 Southport Jazz Festival this weekend!

The popular annual event will see the country’s top jazz musicians perform 10 superb shows across three days from Friday 3rd January 2023 to Sunday 5th January 2023.

All shows will take place at The Grand on Lord Street, the stylish art deco venue that reopened last year after a £4 million transformation. The building, which was opened in 1923, celebrates its centenary this year.

Southport Jazz Festival is organised by local musicians Jez Murphy and Emma Holcroft.

Jez Murphy said: “It’s all systems go this week!

“We have around 2,000 guests coming to the 2023 Southport Jazz Festival at The Grand.

“We have people coming from the north east of Scotland; from London; from Scarborough on the east coast.

“People really are coming to Southport from all corners of the UK!

“Lots of people are staying over for the weekend. They have booked themselves into local hotels, they will be going for breakfast in local cafes, visiting local shops, enjoying dinner in local restaurants.

“It will all benefit local businesses and the local economy.

“Ticket sales are doing very well, we are close to our first two sell-out shows already. If there are gigs that people are keen on we advise them to book tickets as soon as they can.

“We really want to get the message out there that the 2023 Southport Jazz Festival is happening this weekend and we’d love to see people come and enjoy the shows.

“We can’t wait for all the gigs to start.

“The atmosphere when we did the Big Band event with Matt Ford at The Grand in November was superb, and we are looking forward to replicating that.

“We are already thinking about next year’s Southport Jazz Festival. We want to go again, making the event even bigger next year.

“We’d like to thank the media for all their support. We were interviewed by BBC Radio Merseyside, Sean Styles really bigged us up. He has been a fantastic support.”
