A growing group of runners of all ages and all abilities have already raised over £7,000 as they get ready to put their best paws forward to raise funds for Alice’s WonderDance at the Southport Mad Dog 10k run this weekend!
Sarah Lang will be joined by over 80 adults and 47 children running in the adults’ 10k run and the pups’ 1k race on Sunday morning (7th February 2026) starting and finishing at Victoria Park in Southport.
Over 350 generous supporters have already donated £7,125 towards the group’s £10,000 target, with other people welcome to donate here: Sarah Lang is fundraising for Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside
Sarah Lang said: “This Sunday, more than 100 runners, children and adults will take to the starting line for the Crazy Pups 1K and the Mad Dog 10K, all in support of the Southport charity Alice’s WonderDance
“The foundation was created in memory of Alice, who was tragically taken from us in the Southport tragedy, and continues to honour her beautiful spirit through community action and joy.

“Alice’s dad, Sergio, is currently undertaking an incredible challenge: completing all six World Major Marathons in her memory.
“His determination, strength, and love are inspiring so many of us to step outside our comfort zones and turn grief into something positive and purposeful.
“For many of us taking part, running does not come naturally, so this event represents both a physical and emotional challenge.
“That’s why every donation, no matter how small, means the world. Your support will spur us on and help continue the incredible work of a foundation so close to all our hearts.

“All funds raised go directly to Alice’s WonderDance Foundation, delivered in partnership with the Community Foundation Lancashire and Merseyside.
“Let’s run, remember, and make a difference together!

Organisers of the Mad Dog 10k are proud to announce Alice’s WonderDance as the official charity partner for this year’s race.
Alice’s WonderDance was founded in memory of much-loved Southport girl Alice da Silva Aguiar.

Inspired by Alice’s boundless love of dance and her joyful spirit, the foundation exists to carry forward her legacy by supporting young people’s access to dance and creative movement.
Dance, the charity says, is more than just movement — it is freedom, creativity, connection, and joy — and the foundation works to remove barriers so that every child can explore these opportunities in a safe and empowering space.
Since its launch, Alice’s WonderDance has been working with families and community partners across the Liverpool City Region and beyond, helping provide access to dance classes, resources, and creative opportunities for children who might otherwise miss out.
“We are deeply honoured to support Alice’s WonderDance,” said Graham Smith, Race Director of the Mad Dog 10k. “Alice’s story and the charity’s work exemplify unity, positivity and community. Together, we hope to inspire runners and supporters to make every mile count for this incredible cause.”
“We hope runners will be inspired by Alice’s legacy,” added a spokesperson for Alice’s WonderDance “Whether you’re running competitively, jogging with friends, or cheering from the sidelines, your support makes a real difference.”
The Mad Dog 10k, scheduled for Sunday 8th February 2026 in Southport welcomes runners of all abilities to take part in a fantastic day of sport, community, and charity support.
The event has already sold out with all places full, with spectators welcome.
