A nurse has set up a fundraising page to thank a Southport artist for painting a huge three-storey mural to pay tribute to the NHS.

The 24ft high landmark features an NHS nurse, an NHS paramedic, an NHS doctor with angel wings and a North West Air Ambulance pilot.

On the other side of the building is the world’s biggest mural of Captain Sir Tom Moore, the 100-year-old who raised more than £30million for the NHS by walking 100 laps of his garden when his walking aid.

The murals were commissioned by Mark Cunningham, Lyn Cunningham and Jacqui Holt, Directors of Anthony James Estate Agents in Southport.

The three worked with Robert over the last six months to design, create, paint and instal the sensational artwork on the building in Southport.

Louise Duncan, a nurse at Southport Hospital, has now set up a Christmas fundraiser for Robert Newbiggin to thank him for his “fabulous mural of SIir Tom and also his mural of the NHS”.

She said: “I went especially to see the murals. This is such amazing art. They are stunning, absolutely breathtaking.

“I have spoken about these to colleagues at work and to family. They all agree he’s such a lovely talented man to do this for the community.

“I think this is a little lift for Christmas, just a small token for him after what he has done for the community.

“I would love to see people make his Christmas extra special for him and his daughter.

“I don’t know him personally, I just think he is so talented and doing his utmost best.

“A little recognition at Christmas would be lovely for him.”
