A new village pizza takeaway is due to open in Birkdale Village in Southport, creating seven new jobs.
Purely Pizza is set to open at 37A Liverpool Road in Birkdale, in the former Andrew’s Dry Cleaners site.
A planning application for the new venture has been designed by Southport architects Clayton Architecture and submitted to Sefton Council.
The pizza takeaway is owned by local business owner James Birchall, who already owns the successful Tea Rooms wine bar nearby.
The change of use from a dry cleaners to a hot food takeaway would involve the installation of two kitchen extractors to the rear.
Clayton Architecture has also designed an internal reconfiguration to provide a kitchen, a waiting area and new kitchen extraction equipment along with new external fascia signage to the front of the building.
The business would employ four full-time and three part-time staff.
The application submitted to the council said: “The new proposal is for the shop to be a takeaway only with all products consumed off site.
“The applicant is a local business owner and investor and therefore has the best interests for both the site in question and the surrounding area.
“This submission will have no negative impact on the surrounding properties due to the property remaining the same aside for the change of signage that could be seen as an aesthetic improvement for the frontage of the property and extraction to the rear of the property designed and positioned to cause little to no impact to neighbouring properties.
“Overall, this submission supports the addition of a new and sustainable independent business on an established high street.
“It would also have several positive impacts on the surrounding community, businesses, and homeowners.”
