A new inflatable obstacle course is due to be created at Ocean Plaza Leisure in Southport.
Plans supporting the exciting new facility have been submitted to, and approved by, Sefton Council.
It will add to the UK’s first football skills park, Footy Nation, which is currently being built at the busy leisure park, next to Southport’s seafront.
Footy Nation is currently transforming two units previously occupied by the Chinese Buffet and Gourmet Burger Kitchen.
The new inflatable obstacle course, and Footy Nation, will be superb additions to the other popular family attractions already at Ocean Plaza Leisure, which include Vue Cinema, Premier Bowl & Laser and Playtown.
A planning application has now been submitted to Sefton Council calling for alterations to the front of the Everlast Gym and Evans Cycles unit.
The changes would include the replacement of the existing double entrance doors and associated curtain walling.
A letter to Sefton Council’s Planning department by Avison Young says: “The proposed works involve the replacement of the existing double entrance doors and associated curtain walling located on the south elevation of Ocean Plaza, Southport.
“The current door system will be removed in full and replaced with a new automatic bi-parting door arrangement, complete with radar activation, to improve accessibility and operational efficiency.
“The system will comprise high-performance aluminium framed doors and adjacent glazed screens, integrated into the existing façade.
“The proposed development forms part of a wider development to be undertaken by the applicant, who is seeking to split an existing single tenancy (Everlast Gyms, and Evans Cycles) into two separate tenancies comprising a gym and an indoor inflatable obstacle course.
“Avison Young have confirmed to the applicant that these proposed internal works at Ocean Plaza do not constitute a Change of Use, therefore do not require planning permission.”
