Southport priest, author and regular columnist for the Southport Visiter, Canon Dr Rod Garner, has a new book out.
Following his successful biography of St John Henry Newman three years ago, he has now turned his attention to an intriguing range of individuals who have made a significant mark on their times and have something important to say to our own.
As outsiders they have challenged conventional attitudes and beliefs and have sometimes walked lonely or difficult paths.
Whether in the fields of religion, politics, science, philosophy or the arts they encourage us to think more deeply, become more human, and see things in a different light.
Outsiders: Marching to a Different Drum is published by Liverpool Hope University, where Canon Garner is an Hon Fellow, and is available now, priced £10.99 from Broadhurst Bookshop. 5-7 Market Street, Southport.
