Nanny Pearl’s, a Caribbean Street Food vendor, is bringing its authentic menu to the Southport Food and Drink Festival this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (31st May – 2nd June 2024).
The business originates from Nanny Pearl, who moved to the UK as part of the Windrush Generation in the 1940s from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Nanny Pearl was a natural cook, who made meals without any recipes. Her ideas have been passed on to her children and their families.
The small, family-run business, set up by Nanny’s grandson, Josh Murphy, serves authentic Caribbean food at local food events throughout the year.

Their food truck is based in Southport at the corner of 160 Duke Street and Cemetery Road, near the Woollen Pig.
The truck is open Thursday to Saturday 5pm to 8pm.
They celebrated their first-year milestone in April and have been recognised, reaching the final in the North West UK Start-Up Awards in the category of Tourism and Leisure Start-Up of the Year.
In June last year, the team also set up a takeaway option, with customers being able to collect or receive delivery via Southport Eats or Just Eat.
The popular Southport Food and Drink Festival will see around 30,000 visitors to Victoria Park, with around 130 traders, producers and exhibitors, which Nanny Pearl’s will be one of.
Visitors can expect food from all around the world, with Nanny’s grandson, Josh Murphy explaining how their Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat and different flavour wings are always the most popular.
There will also be 16 bars at the festival, offering different beverages such as New Zealand gin and prosecco.
The festival will run from 31st May to 2nd June 2024, opens from 10am to 6pm and is free to enter. Children and dogs are also welcome. To find out more, follow @SouthportFoodandDrinkFestival on Facebook, visit www.visitsouthport.com or follow @visitsouthport on Twitter.
