Merseyrail shares Christmas and New Year rail services as Boxing Day trains return

Merseyrail services will run every day except Christmas Day, with early finishes on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. 

The popular Boxing Day service will return once again to support those attending events, visiting family or heading out to enjoy the Christmas sales.

Christmas Eve – Wednesday 24 December
Services will finish early, with the last trains running at approximately 20:30.

Christmas Day – Thursday 25 December
No services will operate.

Boxing Day – Friday 26 December
A special 30-minute Boxing Day service will run from approximately 09:30 to 19:00, calling at selected stations on each line.

Additional services will also operate between Liverpool and Aintree station for those attending the Boxing Day races at Aintree Racecourse.

New Year’s Eve – Wednesday 31 December
Services will finish early, with the last trains running at approximately 20:30.

New Year’s Day – Thursday 1 January
A 30-minute Sunday service will run on all lines across the network.
