A couple have celebrated their first wedding anniversary with a perfect day at the seaside in Southport.
Eric and Louise Morris married on 20th July 2024 and enjoyed having some very special wedding day pictures taken outside Silcock’s Funland – a place very close to their hearts as it was where they met for their very first date.
The happy couple were delighted to return on the first wedding anniversary on Sunday 20th July 2025.
They had a fun day out, eating ‘fizz and chips’ – fish and chips with Prosecco – on the Balcony Bar outside Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant, with beautiful views across Kings Gardens and the Marine Lake.

Eric, 43, and Louise, 41, then enjoyed a ride of the famous Silcock’s Carousel, also known as ‘Herbert Silcock’s Golden Gallopers’, a Victoria era Carousel ride which has been entertaining generations of visitors since 1901.
After that, they strolled down to Kings Gardens, where they played 18 holes of golf at the Masters Crazy Golf course in Kings Gardens.
The couple first met four years ago after Louise (nee O’Sullivan), then living in Manchester, and Eric, living in Southport, were introduced by Eric’s cousin.

They said: “We had an amazing wedding day. We got married at St Cuthbert’s Church in Churchtown in Southport, followed by our wedding reception at The Masonic Hall in Southport.
“We came to Silcock’s Funland to have our wedding pictures taken by Matthew Rycraft Photography.
“Other people saw us there in our wedding outfits and were coming over to take our pictures! We felt like royalty.
“It’s been so lovely to come back for our anniversary.

“Funland is where we had our first date! We were set up on a blind date by Eric’s cousin, who said we’d be perfect for each other.
“We met, and the rest as they say is history!
“We come back to Funland quite often on our days off.
“We love having fish and chips in the Pier Restaurant too, especially when it’s fizz and chips!
“It’s a lovely view from the balcony looking over Marine Lake and Kings Gardens.
“Rides on the Carousel have become a real tradition of ours too.”

The couple live together in Southport with Eric working at the Conservative Club in Churchtown and Louise working at Lucy Locketts Nursery on Southbank Road in Southport.
They said: “We love being in Southport. It’s such a beautiful place to live, with lots to enjoy here.
“It’s a very friendly town and very relaxed. It’s a really good quality of life.

“We organised our wedding ourselves. We love Disney and Lego. We had the Beauty and the Beast characters at our wedding thanks to Starkidz, and a caricaturist sketching people’s pictures. We had some really great entertainment, including some surprise singing waiters.
“We had some of the prizes we won at Funland incorporated into our wedding, including an LED lightbox.

“There were Christmas trees there too, as we love Christmas.
“It was a fantastic day surrounded by family and friends. The furthest to travel was Eric’s auntie and cousin who flew over from Indiana.
“It’s been an amazing first year of married life, we’re looking forward to many more.”

Silcock Operations Manager Serena Silcock-Prince said: “We are thrilled that Louise and Eric chose to spend their first anniversary with us at Silcock’s Funland!
“We were so happy to be a part of their special day.
“We wish them many more happy anniversaries and look forward to welcoming them back next year!”
