The new LOL Bingo lounge in Southport has enjoyed a superb response since it opened.

The fun interactive venue was officially opened on 3rd October 2025 by former Southport bingo managers Derick Moss (general manager at Ladbrokes Lucky Seven / The Garrick 1974-1979) and John Waby (general manager at Ladbrokes Lucky Seven / The Garrick 1980-1981).

LOL Bingo has opened at 229-233 Lord Street, in the former Lavish Homes unit on the corner of Lord Street and Scarisbrick Avenue, near The Scarisbrick Hotel.

The new local independent business has been opened thanks to a £350,000 investment in the site, with the creation of eight new jobs.

LOL Bingo Lounge Manager Jenny Phillips and her team have been on hand to welcome the first customers to Southport’s newest attraction.

LOL Bingo Director Mike Smith said:

“Everything has been going really well since we opened!

“We’d like to thank all our customers and everyone who has been in to take a look inside our new venture, and everyone who has been in to wish us well.

“People in Southport have missed their bingo! They are pleased to see it back.

“Bingo here has been so popular that we have increased our offering by 30% already, with 32 seats now instead of 24.

“Bingo has definitely been really popular, both during the day and also at night. People in Southport, and visitors to the town, have missed being able to play here.

“We have over 1,000 members signed up and those numbers are growing.

“We are really keen to get the word out and let more people know that we are here.

“We have found LOL Bingo has been particularly busy during weekends. We’re here for people seven days a week, from 10am until midnight.

“People who call in say our bingo is much simpler to play and it is much more inclusive.

“You can come in and play when you want, at a time that suits you, and you can stay for as little or as long as you want.

“People love our new interactive dartboards, and our beautiful American pool table.

“Our gaming machines have been popular. We have been listening to feedback from our customers and have changed a couple of machines, bringing in a couple of new ones. That is the beauty of operating LOL Bingo Lounges in Southport, Manchester and Newcastle, we can swap machines between them if we need to, depending on what people want.

“I love being on Lord Street, in such a central location. This was a ladies’ dress shop at one point; my Mum would probably have shopped here on our many family visits to Southport many years ago. During the refurbishment, we kept seeing old fashion posters from when it was a shop.

“It’s a brilliant unit. We’re glad to have been able to have brought new life to it, and to have added another new local independent business to Lord Street, after it was vacant for the past two years.

“We are going to keep making it even better.

“I am keen to keep investing in Southport and doing what I can to support the local community.

“Autumn has been a great time for us and we are now really looking forward to the Christmas celebrations in Southport!

“We’re very excited to see all the Christmas entertainment happening right across the road from us in the Town Hall Gardens on Saturday, 15th November, which will be a brilliant day for everyone to come and visit Southport.

“Everythigng is moving in the right direction. We are really pleased to have opened our third venture here in Southport.”

This is the third LOL Bingo in the UK, adding to other sites already operational in Harpurhey in Manchester and Wallsend in Newcastle. The firm has big ambitions to keep growing and to open more lounges in the coming years.
