A new exclusive occasion wear shop has opened inside the beautiful Wayfarers Shopping Arcade in Southport town centre.

If you have a special occasion coming up then Lily May bridal, prom and occasion wear should be the first shop to visit for that stunning dress.

The owner, Chris Newell, has moved her business from Ainsdale to the centre of Southport shopping which is good news for ladies looking for something really unique for a dressy occasion.

No matter what age you are, Lily May is the shop to head for when you are looking for prom dresses, which range from as little as  £50, mother of the bride or groom, wedding guest outfit etc.

And not everyone wants to have their bridal gown made or ordered so Lily May has a gorgeous range of off the peg bridal wear.

So, whether you are having a large gathering, marrying abroad or in a hotel Lily May will have just the gown you want for your special day.

Many shoppers will know Chris Newell well from her time running the renowned Plaza Cards shop on Lord Street and the Plaza Cards concession inside Beales department store on Lord Street, in addition to Lily May in Ainsdale Village.

She is excited to have relocated into the 126-year-old Wayfarers Shopping Arcade, and is looking forward to working alongside other quality, local independent businesses which can work together to provide a comprehensive offering for visitors.

Chris said: “I love being inside Wayfarers Arcade. It has a really good vibe here.

“This historic building is stunning and it really ties in with what we offer.

“We have enjoyed being in Ainsdale in recent years but wanted to be situated more centrally.

“When this opportunity inside Wayfarers Arcade came up we thought it was perfect.

“The landlord was really good to work with and we were happy to sign.

“As well as ourselves, we have other local businesses here such as The Hair Lounge, LM Beauty, Design By Gavriela  and others which complement what we do, while shoppers can also sit down and enjoy a coffee or something to eat at Pudding and Pie. It makes sense to be situated near each other. It’s like a one-stop shop for special occasions!

“We were really pleased to move into Southport town centre and work with the other businesses situated around us.

“I think more businesses will move in when more people see what’s going on in here.

“The arcade is pristine. When customers come in to see us they always say what a stunning building this is.

“We have enjoyed meeting our neighbours and they are really nice. Even though we have only been here a few weeks, it feels like we have been here forever.”

Chris enjoyed being part of the Plaza Cards business nearby for many years.

She said: “It was a shame when Plaza Cards closed. The shop itself was there for 62 years – I worked there for 15 years, and owned it for the past 13 years. It was originally opened by Mr Petrie inside Piccadilly Train Station in Manchester before he came to Southport.

“Lord Street is a great place to be.

“I am really pleased to be back here with Lily May, and look forward to people coming in to see us.”

In addition to bridal, prom and occasion wear, Lily May also offers hats and hatinators to hire or buy.

Payment plans are available to suit all budgets.

Exclusive private bookings are available so you can have the whole shop all to yourself and the personal attention of one of Lily May’s professional, friendly team.
