Robert Smallman, owner of La Tabella restaurant in Churchtown in Southport, is raising money for Queenscourt Hospice through Jail and Bail

By Jail and Bail Crime Correspondent Andrew Brown

A Southport restaurateur is appealing to the public to help him escape ‘jail’ – where he is suffering from ‘dreadful food, overwork and NO PERONI!’

Robert Smallman, the owner of the popular La Tabella restaurant in Churchtown Village, is among 12 local kind-hearted fundraisers who are raising as much money as they can for Queenscourt Hospice through Jail and Bail.

The dastardly dozen will today (Friday, 15th September 2023) be ‘arrested’, then ‘charged’ with a variety of heinous ‘crimes’ and then stand ‘trial’ in the dock at the former Southport Magistrates’ Court (now the offices for Access Point).

To escape – they each need to raise at least £999 in ‘bail’ money, withy every penny going to Queenscourt Hospice.

He said: “I need your help to get me out of jail!

“I’ve been locked up at Queenie’s Correctional Facility for the crime of racketeering.

“This is a crime that I did not commit. I am innocent. Just ask any of my customers, they will vouch for me. I’m as honest as the day is long.

“I cannot stay here any longer as they serve dreadful food, are making me work and there’s no Peroni.

“Please help me get out by donating towards my £999 bail money.

“My bail money is going straight to Queenscourt Hospice so if you are able to donate not only do you get me back where I belong at La Tabella but you also help a wonderful cause.

“Hopefully I see you on the outside soon.”
