The brilliant Asa Murphy is performing at Connolly’s Irish pub in Southport this weekend – with a gig that’s completely free!
You can see him at Connolly’s (the former Coronation pub), opposite Southport Market on King Street, from 9pm this Saturday (11th October 2025).
One of the most successful singers in the North West, Asa Murphy has been a popular figure in entertainment for the past 18 years.
He has performed all over the world singing big band swing music and his own self penned songs.
He has fulfilled many of his dreams as a performer selling out London’s Ronnie Scott’s, topping the bill at the Liverpool Empire, and cruising and singing on the most famous cruise liners in the world.
Asa also has a popular BBC radio show and has been on the airwaves for 10 years.
In 2019 he turned his hand to writing stage musicals and has enjoyed three hits: Buddy Holly Lives, Mack The Knife and Irish Annies.
Connolly’s owner Julie Goodwin said: “Get ready for an unforgettable night at Connolly’s this Saturday night!
“We’re beyond excited to welcome the incredible Asa Murphy – the star of the smash-hit tour Irish Annies with special guest Peter Morgan!
“This is an evening not to be missed – live on stage from 9pm!
“Expect a night bursting with music, laughter, and that unbeatable Connolly’s atmosphere
And the best part? It’s completely free!
“No tickets – just turn up early, grab your seat, and get ready for a proper Saturday night session!
“Tag your crew, spread the word, and let’s make tomorrow night one to remember!”
Connolly’s Irish pub is a real Southport landmark, known for many years as The Coronation, until it closed at the onset of the Covid Pandemic in March 2020.
It was transformed and reopened last year as Connolly’s Irish pub by Julie Goodwin and her team.
The venue is famous for its superb live music.
In April, Connollys was among three venues in the Liverpool city region which hosted successful Open Mic nights organised by BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Merseyside. Inside is a large mural celebrating some of Ireland’s most legendary sporting heroes including footballer George Best, snooker player Alex ‘Hurricane’ Higgins and golfer Rory McIlroy.
