Lynn Morgan-Green

Hundreds of people are walking five miles for charity this Saturday (5th December) in memory of a much loved member of staff at a school in Southport.

The family of Lynn Morgan-Green say they have been “overwhelmed” with the support for the Walk For Lynn #wewalkforlynn which is taking place after the Parent Support Advisor tragically died two weeks ago following a short illness. She was just 58 years old.

They said: “We have been overwhelmed with the support for the walk for Lynn. Thank you all so much for sharing the post and for the lovely comments.

“We knew Lynn was popular but it has blown us away. We would at an early guess say we are in the hundreds for walkers.

“The family have asked for some photos of you taking part in the walk so they have some nice memories of the day to cherish. If you want to upload your photos to your own Facebook or Instagram page with the #wewalkforlynn the family will be able to find them.

“Please remember to share to get as many people out walking on 5th December as we can.

“We sadly lost the amazing Lynn Morgan-Green on 18th November very suddenly to a horrible and cruel disease that shouldn’t still be able to take away our loved ones.

“Lynn was the loveliest lady you could wish to know – with a heart of pure gold. We will never forget her beautiful smile and her always kind words. The world is a sadder place because her light has gone. But she will never be forgotten.

“In honour of Lynn who adored walking and would be out every weekend with her wonderful husband Richard on a very lengthy walk ‘for fun’ I am hoping my lovely friends can partake in a simple walking activity with me. On 5th December – can you walk five miles for £5? If you want to get out and hit the trail with the kids, go for a get away time for yourself or take the dog on a nice walk please do so and then come home and warm up with a hot drink and some cake and simply text the word FIVE to 70180 to make a one off donation of £5 to Cancer Research.

“Are you with me? #wewalkforlynn #5for5

Lynn was a loving wife to Richard, caring mother of Joshua and Sebastian and adoring Nannie of Lyla. There was a service celebrating her life at Ainsdale Village Church URC Cornerstones on Thursday (3rd December).

Bridge Inn Community Farm in Formby also paid their tributes.

They said: “Many of our clients and all the staff at Bridge Inn will know Lynn Morgan-Green, one of the Merefield staff who has been coming with pupils from that school to the farm for many years now and has been hugely influential therefore to many of our clients who have passed through Merefield before coming to us.

“Unbelievably, Lynn passed away a little over two weeks ago after a brief illness leaving a massive gap in her immediate family and also her extended family including the staff and pupils of Merefield, the farm, and all the pupils who have had cause to be grateful to her for her humour, kindness and humanity over the years.

“As an institution, we’d like to extend our condolences to all and any of her friends and underscore how sadly she’ll be missed at the farm, for all the above attributes but also for her impish but never hurtful sense of humour, she will cast a long shadow!

“We hope that as many of you as possible will be able to raise money for a massively good cause and for a way of sending Lynn’s family a reminder of just how much she was loved by us all.”
