A leading hotel in Sefton which has been a ‘local landmark’ for over 50 years could see the addition of a five-storey extension creating 40 new hotel rooms.

The investment at The Park Hotel, on Dunnings Bridge Roads in Netherton, could also see the opening of a new seven court padel tennis facility.

A planning application for the ambitious scheme has been submitted to Sefton Council by City Life Projects Ltd.

The scheme would involve the erection of a five-storey side extension to the existing hotel, the re-cladding of the existing eastern hotel elevation to match the existing, the installation of retractable canopies to the front and the addition of six electric car charging parking spaces.

Images of how the new extension would look have been drawn up by WD Architects.

In their submission, they said: “The proposed site is situated on the Park Hotel complex and on land to the rear of the hotel.

“The existing Park Hotel gives a large presence to the street façade of Dunnings Bridge Road.

“The new extension has been designed to enhance this façade without any detriment to the surrounding area by creating a new bookend to the building and refurbishing the existing 1960s previous extension to create a modern and fresh façade which has a greater presence on the street.

“Dunnings Bridge Road is a major route into the city from the north and is a well-established street containing many businesses.

“The Park Hotel has been established for over 50 years and is a local landmark.

“The extension to the original building will create a new feature to the hotel, increasing the rooms from 62 to 102 and the Padel court facility will add a new facility for the wider community and the hotel guests.

“The proposed Padel tennis facility has been designed to fit onto the vacant land to the rear of the hotel.

“The Park Hotel caters for many events such as weddings, live performances and entertainment evenings and is a main facility used during the Aintree racing festival.

“The addition of the new rooms and the Padel tennis facility will ensure the longevity and development of the hotel for years to come.”
