A kind-hearted Southport NHS worker has made up more than 130 goodie bags to give to people who are in hospital on Christmas Day.

Karen Bradshaw, a Healthcare Assistant at Southport Hospital, has spent her own time and money to put together bags full of small gifts for people unfortunate enough to be in hospital over the festive period.

The bags include treats such as sweets, toiletries, socks and other small gifts that Karen hopes will put a “smile on people’s faces.’’

Karen, who has worked as a HCA for 42 years, said: “It’s only a little gesture but I wanted to do this to show patients that we are thinking of them at this time.

“I have bought the presents and enjoyed making nice gift bags for them and I have had some great support from people around me too.

“I know the gifts are appreciated and it will be lovely to see the smile on their faces on Christmas Day.’’
