Nu-Shabtis Sculpture Trail

Monday 17 February 2025 – Saturday 22 February 2025.
10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Free. Pick up a trial sheet at The Atkinson.

Shabtis are small figurines that Ancient Egyptians placed in tombs, believing they would join them in the afterlife to help with tasks and be their loyal companions.

Contemporary artist Zahed Taj-Eddin has created Nu-Shabtis that have come to life in The Atkinson and are enjoying daily tasks such as shopping, going to the gym and using mobile phones!

We’re Going On A Bear Hunt!

From 1 February 2025.
Free. Pick Up A Map!

Ten colourful bears will arrive in Southport town centre this weekend (Saturday 1st February 2025), inspired by the iconic ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ children’s picture book.

Visitors will be able to explore the town centre, find 10 enormous bears, as well as enjoying the chance of winning some great prizes!

Southport BID and Sefton Council are working with Wild in Art and Walker Books to bring the much-loved children’s book to life.
You can discover the individually hand-painted sculptures, which feature unique designs from talented artists and illustrators, until 27th April 2025.
The ‘Bear Hunt’ is a free, family-friendly activity perfect for all ages.  Those looking for a fun day out can follow the trail map and use clues at each location to answer bear-themed questions.

Visitors have the choice of completing a shorter trail which includes seven sculptures, or the full trail, which features all ten bears.

 Printed maps can be downloaded from the link below or can be picked up at here at The Atkinson Library, ASDA, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Vue Cinema, and Waterstones in Southport from 1st February.

Dinosaur Adventure Live

Friday 21 February 2025. 2pm & 5pm.
Ages 3+. Running Time: 60minutes followed by a 15min post-show Meet & Greet with the Dinosaurs. Please note that there is no interval.

Ukrainian Day

Free, drop in event. No booking required.

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Ukrainian culture with a captivating day of events at The Atkinson. There will be a coffee morning, a choir performance, craft workshops and traditional dress alongside a community exhibition where you can find out more about Ukrainian culture.
