People have enjoyed Christmas festivities in Southport through support from the Compassion Acts charity along with generosity shown by local people and businesses. 

A total of 55 Christmas Eve boxes were donated to the event, making it a magical time for 55 local families. 

Donations came from the Marine Lake Events Centre Professional Team and accommodation partners with “a special thank you to Mikhail Leisure Group”, which owns local venues including The Grand, The Bold Hotel and Maverick’s bar, for donating 21 boxes. 

A Compassion Acts spokesperson said: “Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us.

“There were lots of very emotional parents.

“Donations came from the MLEC Professional Team and accommodation partners.

“Thank you to The Bold Hotel and The Waterfront for volunteering their services as drop off points.

“Thank you also to some of the smaller accommodation providers, Eden Warehouse and Sunnyside Guest House who also donated.

“We set ourselves a target of 50 and our target was achieved! Next year with more time we go again, target 100!
