It was great to be part of the second meeting of the new Southport Life networking group with added social value at Waterfront Hotel Southport on Thursday night.

These new monthly gatherings are organised by Serena Silcock-Prince (Silcock Leisure Group) and Lizzie Barnett (Studio Nine and Southport’s Journey).

They aim to add to the growing sense of positivity in Southport, add to networking groups locally and support positive initiatives.

This month they took part in the Friends Of Kings Gardens clean up.

Given a spotlight last night was Nicola Alcock, who founded the Uniform Hub, now operated by Compassion Acts, in Cambridge Walks in Southport town centre.

They accept donations of uniforms for schools across Southport and support local families with uniforms they need, while also promoting sustainability and recycling.

Guests gave a round of applause to the fantastic news about the Government providing up to £20 million funding to repair and reopen Southport Pier, with Serena Silcock-Prince invited to speak about the pier on BBC North West Tonight on Monday.

She is currently in training for next month’s Strictly event for Queenscourt Hospice, with Queenscourt Hospice Fundraising Manager Liz Hartley among guests in the audience last night.

Also present were the team from the GABA Foundation, who will be speaking and bringing a pop-up shop to next month’s Southport Life meeting, at Waterfront Southport Hotel on 6th November, 6pm.

Also speaking was Lewis Nickson, CEO of Poly Up, about The Level Up Network (next event 18th October, 9.30am).

Good luck to Lewis at his big awards event in London today!

The next networking group taking place is the Sandgrounders Business Club at Southport Football Club, from 5pm next Thursday 9th October 2025 – free admission, all welcome.
