Guests gathered to enjoy an empowering and supportive International Women’s Day event in Southport.
The beautiful event took place in the Princess Grace Function Suite at The Grand on Lord Street on Friday (7th March 2025), with an inspirational series of speakers.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme was ‘Accelerate Action’.
They included: Delighted to hear superb speeches from Serena Silcock-Prince (Head of Operations Silcock Leisure Group), Tammy Burgess (Southport Football Club Sporting Director), Alan Adams (Southport Flower Show General Manager), Moira O’Shaughnessy (Financial Planning Corporation Managing Partner), Ellen (Ellie) Kerr (Merseyside Women Of The Year Awards Founding Director) and Julie Lawson BEM (Deputy Lieutenant for Merseyside).

The headline sponsors were Financial Planning Corporation and LeaseCar UK.
International Women’s Day was organised by Queenscourt Hospice and Stand Up For Southport, with over £11,000 raised for the hospice, some through a generous donation of raffle prizes by local firms.
The afternoon was hosted by West End performer John Coates with entertainment by superb local singer Kelly Bond.

VIP guests included Mayor Of Sefton Cllr June Burns and Southport BID Chief Executive Rachel Fitzgerald.
Local businesses present to lend their support included BOSS Consulting, BNI Southport, EFT Group, Merseyrail, Silcock Leisure Group, Southport Flower Show, Southport Football Club, Slimming World Southport with Dee Wright, and others.

Everyone present enjoyed a delicious two course meal with MAF Photography there to capture the day in style. Sound and lighting was provided by Moonlight Events.
People then headed downstairs to extend the celebrations in Chloe’s Piano Bar at The Grand.

Planning has already begun for next year’s event.
Queenscourt Hospice Fundraising Manager Liz Hartley said: “What an incredible International Women’s Day event!
