People can win a range of superb Grand Charity Raffle prizes and help to raise money for people whose lives have been devastated by the war in Ukraine.

The raffle is being operated by Southport Artists For Ukraine, which is staging a four-day art exhibition and art sale in the Events Hall at Southport Market. Tickets are £1 each.

The exhibition opened on Thursday and continues today (Saturday 9th April) and Sunday (10th April). Admission is free.

Artists from across the North West have donated their works to the event, with all proceeds going to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) to support Ukrainian people displaced by conflict.

People at the event will also be able to buy raffle tickets, with local businesses donating some fantastic prizes.

Prizes include: a £1,000 off voucher on any retail vehicle above £5,000 at Motors Today; a £100 Marston’s voucher; a £100 Stocks House voucher; 6 months gym membership at Hurlston Hall; 10 yoga sessions worth £65 at Hall Street Gym; £50 voucher at The Lansdowne restaurant; £50 voucher at Olivia C Hairdressing; £50 voucher at The Green Room; a skincare treatment at SKIN+ by Diana; afternoon tea for tea for two at The Hayloft; and cream tea for two at Cranberry’s.

People can also donate via a JustGiving link here.

The raffle is being organised by Silcock’s Operations Manager Serena Silcock-Prince, who is one of the Southport Artists For Ukraine organisers.

She said: “We have lots of prizes on offer that people can win, with all the proceeds going towards helping people affected by the war in Ukraine.

“We have had so many great prizes donated, I would like to thank local businesses for their generosity. I have been overwhelmed by their kindness.

“They are really fantastic prizes. Local businesses really wanted to donate to this appeal to help people fleeing the war in Ukraine.

“People are welcome to come down to the Southport Artists For Ukraine art exhibition, come and have a look at all the art on display, and support the appeal through buying a couple of raffle tickets at just £1 per ticket.

“We are going to be selling these tickets throughout the weekend.”

Visitors at Southport Artists For Ukraine at Southport Market can enjoy art exhibitions, art sales, poetry, music and performance, through to Sunday, 10th April.

The event has been put together in just four weeks by a team dedicated to supporting Ukrainian people displaced and affected by the conflict in their country.

One of the organisation team, Tony Wynne, said: “We have all seen the crisis in Ukraine unfold over the last four weeks and it is the worst refugee crisis since the Second World War. It was the media images and news feeds that spurred a group of us into action.

“We really appreciate all the performers for giving their time and our artists for donating their art.

“In terms of the artwork being donated we can honestly say it’s one of the most eclectic exhibitions we’ve ever put together; with street art next to traditional watercolours and equine art next to photos of the Red Arrows!”

Apart from the artwork there is a full programme of music and performance.

Saturday 9th April sees at 11am-12pm – Ukrainian Country Dance, at 1pm Ukulele Buddies and at 2pm Southport Market rocks to the JKH Band.

On Sunday 10th April, Ukulele Buddies return at 1pm after Ukrainian poetry at 11pm and then at 2.30pm Jacqui Lewis – Broadway vocalist.
