“Queenscourt Hospice matters enormously to this community.”

That was the message at Friday’s International Women’s Day event at The Grand in Southport in support of Queenscourt Hospice, which FPC was proud to sponsor for the second year running.

The afternoon brought together people from across Southport to celebrate the power of giving and the extraordinary impact Queenscourt has on families across our community.

In her speech, Moira O’Shaughnessy, Managing Partner at FPC, reflected on why the hospice means so much to so many:

“Queenscourt matters enormously to this community. Most people will know someone who has received care there – and none of us knows who we love who may need that care in the future.”

The panel discussion that followed explored the role individuals, businesses and volunteers play in sustaining community organisations like Queenscourt.

As Queenscourt Hospice’s founder Dr Karen Groves MBE reminded the room: “It’s not just about money. It’s about time, talent and skills.”

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the event raised over £11,000 for Queenscourt Hospice, helping ensure specialist care continues to be there for patients and families when they need it most.

Moira O’Shaughnessy said:

“Congratulations to Liz Hartley and the Queenscourt Hospice fundraising team for organising such a wonderful event.

“We’re proud to support such an important organisation and grateful to be part of a community that continues to show such heart.”

Queenscourt provides access to specialist palliative care either at home (including care homes), hospital or in Queenscourt via the Inpatient Unit or as an Outpatient. Queenscourt at Home supports patients, and those important to them, to be cared for in their own home, if that is their preference.
