A determined team of fundraisers from Lloyd & Co Financial Planning are getting ready to complete a marathon walk for Queenscourt Hospice by walking 26.2 miles for the charity this Saturday (22nd June 2024).
The challenge will see 14 colleagues from the firm enjoy some of our region’s most scenic sites, including the Southport coastline, the Marine Lake, Birkdale Village, Ainsdale Pinewoods and Formby Village.
They have already received generous support from members of the public, with people able to donate through their JustGiving page here.
David Lloyd, Director of Lloyd & Co Financial Planning said:
“There will be 14 of us taking part in the walk on Saturday, all relatively able bodied, we are really looking forward to it!”
“We have committed to walking 26.2 miles throughout the day, which I have not yet entered into training for. I have a few days left so all is not lost.”
“Our aim is to raise as much money as we can for Queenscourt Hospice, which is a local charity that is very close to all our hearts.”
“Queenscourt has been our Charity of The Year previously and we continue to support them.”
“There are so many people in our community whose lives are affected by Queenscourt.”
“The team at the hospice provide exceptional care to people both in the hospice and at home at a time when they need it the most.”
“They rely on fundraising to provide 80% of their services.”
“We originally set a target to raise £1,000 but we are humbled to have reached over £2,000 in donations already.”
“We would love to see more people support our walk through our JustGiving page here.”
The walk will start from The Office restaurant and bar on Hoghton Street at 8am this Saturday.
David said: “We are starting and ending our route at The Office.”
“We are taking on a really scenic route, walking along the seafront in Southport; through Birkdale Village; into the pinewoods at Ainsdale; and then towards Formby.”
“On our way back we will be calling into Queenscourt Hospice, in Kew, where they are hosting their Open Day, before walking back to The Office.”
“We live and work in such a beautiful part of the world and this walk will be a way of celebrating that.”
“Look out for lots of pictures of our walk being posted on our Lloyd & Co Financial Planning social media sites.”
“The walk should take us around six hours to complete so we are looking forward to enjoying a drink in The Office when we finish!”
“We’d like to thank everyone who has sponsored us so far, your support means a lot.”
“We like to do what we can to support a variety of local charities.”
“Last year I completed the Jail and Bail fundraiser for Queenscourt Hospice, which was a lot of fun and a flashback to my youth. In October we are taking on a Tough Mudder challenge for the MIND charity.”
“We’re always thinking of new ways to support good causes.”
Queenscourt Hospice is a local charity that provides support for approximately. 235,000 people of West Lancashire, Southport and Formby. They provide access to specialist palliative care via the Inpatient Unit or as Outpatient.
The cost for Queenscourt to provide such comprehensive care is £444 per hour which is exceptionally high considering that Queenscourt receives less than 20% of its funding from the NHS.
