Formby Village near Liverpool has turned red, white and blue as it gets ready to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee!
Family-run lighting and decorations firm IllumiDex UK Ltd has been busy installing hundreds of metres of Union Jack bunting in and around the Chapel Lane area of the village centre.
Local shops, cafes, restaurants and other businesses are excitedly looking forward to marking The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style when it takes place from Thursday, 2nd June to Sunday, 5th June, 2022.
Illumidex UK Ltd Director Steve Clayton said: “We have just completed the project of putting up bunting in Formby to celebrate the Jubilee.
“We have ensured that Union Jack flags are zig-zagging along the main street and in some of the side streets on either side as well.
“It took us around seven hours to install the bunting on Sunday night, after we were commissioned to carry out the work by Formby Parish Council.
“It looks really good now that it’s been installed.
“When you stand at one end of the Village and look down the road with all the red, white and blue, it looks fantastic.

“The bunting is going to stay up for around the next two or three weeks for everyone to enjoy.
“Waitrose allowed us to park our MEWP in their car park while this work to improve the Village was taking place, and we would like to thank them for their kindness.”
Maria Bennett from Formby Parish Council said: “We wanted to provide bunting in Formby Village to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and Illumidex UK Ltd has done a great job for us.
“The feedback we have received so far is that local people and local businesses are really pleased with it.
“Hopefully it will encourage people to come into the Village in the run-up to the Jubilee and during the Jubilee weekend to celebrate this momentous occasion.

“Businesses in the Village will be serving Jubilee teas, or putting on special menus, or doing other things for visitors to enjoy.
“Hopefully the new bunting will add to the atmosphere, attract more visitors and boost trade for local businesses in Formby.”
