Take Away Review: The Rollin Stove, in Jewsons, Bispham Road, High Park, Southport

My first visit to The Rollin Stove, which is a  large catering “truck” in the grounds of Jewsons.

Run by well known local personalities Sandy Mckenzie and Kerry Toft they have just completed a stint as official caterer at Southport Comedy Festival on Victoria Park.

If you like low fat, vegan quiche lorraine with kale, then perhaps this isn’t for you, but if you enjoy large portions of well-priced hearty, traditional fayre, then you will be well catered for.

My friend had a full English breakfast (£4.95) which he said was “top drawer, particularly the sausage and black pudding”.

The girls in the truck recommended I try their steak baguette with peppercorn sauce and homemade chips (£5.00). It was awesome, with tender meat (and lots of it). The chips are really special here and worth the visit alone – they reminded me of the chips my Mum used to make, which is praise indeed!

There are plenty of breakfast brunchy lunchy options, burgers etc on the menu.

Prices are extremely competitive, quality good, generous portions, service with a smile and plenty of free parking.

Another winner for us Southport residents and a new local business definitely worth supporting.

Thanks for a tremendous brunch, girls.

You know 10’s aren’t even a thing, so it has to be a 9 out of 10 from me.

PRO TIP: just go there, you won’t be disappointed.
