The first Southport Creatives social event at Southport Market has been a huge success, with a second meeting planned to take place later this month.
The event was led by local artist Emmy Porter as a way of fostering closer collaborations and developing the thriving arts scene in Southport.
Emmy Porter said: “Well, what an incredible turnout for our first Southport Creatives social event at Southport Market last night! Just a room full of creatives getting together to chat, meet new people, and come up with ideas on how we can work together to support the Art scene in Southport!
“It was soooooo heartwarming to hear so many people connect over similar views, ideas, plans, issues, and personally it was so lovely to meet so many people who want to work collaboratively to make Southport a more creative place for everyone!
Our next meet-up will take place on Thursday 23rd July 2026, 6pm to 8pm at Southport Market.
This one will be slightly different from the last event. Rather than a social gathering, it will be a more structured forum, giving us the chance to discuss key topics raised by attendees at our first meet-up and explore how we can move ideas forward together.
And for anyone who didn’t see the original poster advertised, Southport Creatives is just a group of people who want to connect other local creatives to do good for each other and the community.
There is no agenda, no affiliation with any larger organisations such as the council, no pot of money, just a small group of proactive people who want to do something good – and invite you all along for the ride.
Many thanks to Stephen Walton, Liam Jackson, Norrie Beswick-Calvert, Tiffany Horan and others who helped bring everyone together and who have very kindly offered their time to support the venture.
We have plans to create a Facebook page, a newsletter and eventually a website but until then, pencil us in your diaries and keep an eye on your socials over the coming weeks as we try and put something together. And also, please remember that we are setting this up in our own free time for the benefit of everyone, so please be kind – and get involved!!
