Southport BID feature by Stand Up For Southport
Families can explore the latest eye-catching creation from the Southport Hookers starting today!
The amazing volunteer group have brought smiles to people’s faces in recent years by meeting in a secret location to knit crochet postbox toppers with a variety of themes all over Southport.
Recently, they made national headlines when they spent months creating a stunning life-size crochet Spitfire, which took pride of place in the Town Hall Gardens on Lord Street.
Now they have worked with Southport BID to unveil their latest creation – ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’, which you can discover in various locations in Southport town centre throughout the festive season.
The trail consists of twelve crochet displays that represent the twelve days of Christmas.
People will be able to find them in windows around the town centre.
The trail will be in place from Saturday 15th November 2025 to Monday 5th January 2026.
Pick up your trail map from The Atkinson or participating businesses or you can download it here: 12 Days of Christmas Trail | Your Southport
Find all twelve displays, and note down the letters at each stop to reveal a secret Christmas word.
Complete the trail for your chance to win £250 of vouchers to spend at a Southport business of your choice!
It’s a magical way to explore Southport this Christmas with family and friends.
Suzanne Goatcher from the Southport Hookers said: “The Southport Hookers were thrilled to be asked by Southport BID to create a Magical Christmas theme for this year’s Southport Christmas Trail!
“We’ve been dreaming of making our very own ‘12 Days of Christmas’ for a while — so when this opportunity came along, we jumped at it!
“Over the past seven months, we’ve been busy designing and creating 12 unique, supersized yarn artworks, each one representing a day from the famous carol.
“From ‘a partridge in a pear tree’ to ‘twelve drummers drumming,’ you’ll find them bringing colour and creativity to shop windows all around Southport town centre.
“It’s been a wonderful challenge, and we hope that when you see them, you’ll agree that we really can turn yarn into magic!”
The 12 Days of Christmas Trail is part of a series of festive events and attractions which you can enjoy in Southport, including a packed day of free entertainment with the Southport Christmas Spectacular on Saturday 15th November 2025.
