The prestigious event is part of a series of whisky festivals taking place across the world, with Southport joining locations including Tromso in Norway, New Jersey in USA, Nagoya in Japan and Edinburgh in Scotland.

Whisky companies taking part include: Glenfarclas, Tomatin, Spey, Ardnamurchan, Dunphail, Isle of Harris Distillery, Torabhaig, The Glasgow Distillery Co and more.

Event organiser Victor Porter said: “It is the biggest event we have done so far with 25 exhibitors and 200 attendees.

“We have people coming in from all over the UK for it.

“Southport Whisky Festival is well sold so far, with a few tickets remaining.”

Organisers at Southport Whisky mainly do two things: they travel around (Scotland mostly) finding whisky that they like; and bring it to Southport.

They especially like: Distillery Exclusives; Single Cask Bottlings and Limited Editions.

They then offer their whisky to the local licensed trade, as a special addition to their whisky menu. They provide product information and give advice on descriptions and pricing.

They also organise events and host tastings. Mainly through the Southport Whisky Club and also for private groups.
