This deer was rescued by Southport Police.

A deer is making a recovery at a veterinary surgery after a collision with a car. 

Police officers from Southport rescued the animal following an accident in Formby. 

A Sefton Police spokesman said: “An unusual day on the beat earlier today in Formby where this beautiful deer was found on Liverpool Road where he had collided with a moving vehicle.

“Officers from the Southport local police team conveyed him to MediVet on Eaton Road, Liverpool where he is being cared for by the superb staff.”

Local people wished the stricken animal a speedy recovery.

Speaking on the Sefton Police Facebook page, Elle Elmo Ball said: “He might be part of a family. As I know there is a family of deer in The area. I hope you find out where he’s from.”

Jackie Preston said: “I didn’t even know we had any deer around the area, I have never seen any. I hope the deer recovers quickly.”

Joanne Evison-Guest said: “Wonder if he was the same deer that was caught in the fencing a few weeks ago?”
