A group of volunteers who take huge pride in keeping their neighbourhood clean have been recognised for their efforts at the 2026 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards.
Crosby Wombles were applauded as a Finalist for the Sefton Community Impact Award sponsored by Carlsberg.
One nomination for them said: “Crosby Wombles are a pillar of the community and have shown fantastic community spirit in helping motivate people to clean up their community with the L23 and surrounding areas.
“They hold regular group litter picks, help tidy up and keep parks neat and tidy, welcome anybody and everybody to get involved, go into schools and groups to give talks which inspire children and their adults to get out there and take pride in their community.
“They also work closely with Sefton Council to get larger areas of fly-tipping removed.

“They have been featured multiple times on local radio and TV and have inspired other areas to start up their own Womble groups.
“Crosby Wombles have made a fantastic improvement to the litter in and around Crosby and locals regularly sing their praises.”
