Southport Football Club have announced the signing of centre half Harry Flowers

Southport Football Club have announced the signing of “commanding” 6ft 5ins centre half Harry Flowers. 

Harry is the grandson of the late Ron Flowers who played over 700 games for Wolverhampton Wanderers and 49 times for England.

A Southport FC spokesperson said: “We are delighted to announce that experienced central defender Harry Flowers has signed for the club for an undisclosed fee from AFC Telford United.

Harry has a wealth of experience at this level having played for Telford, Brackley and Curzon Ashton. He has also played for Solihull Moors and Larne in Northern Ireland having started out at Youth and Under 23 level with Burnley.

27 years old and 6 feet 5 inches tall, Harry will be a fantastic addition to the squad.

Liam is thrilled to get this signing over the line and said ” this is a superb signing for Southport, Harry is big, strong, athletic and will give us a lot of strength at the back. Anyone who watched Harry in action for Telford against us last season will remember how commanding he was in the air but he can also use his feet to great effect”

Liam is confident of bringing a couple of further additions to the squad in the next ten days with a striker and midfielder the targets.
