A little plea from me…
If you’re in Southport (or even if you’re happy to travel for a fantastic night at the theatre), please, please consider coming to see Southport Spotlights Musical Theatre Society production of The Great British Bake Off Musical.
The tent is up, the ovens are hot, and after two days of wrestling with what feels like approximately three billion props-benches, blenders, mixing bowls, cake stands, bunsen burners and everything else you could possibly bake with I genuinely think we’ve become not only a cast of performers, but professional bakers on the side!
Tickets are available here: The Great British Bake Off Musical at Little Theatre Southport event tickets from TicketSource
I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in some wonderful productions over the last few years, from concerts for Queenscourt Hospice to the All Souls Pantomime, but this show is going to hold a very special place in my heart. It’s my first time playing a role like this, in a musical I’ve never performed before, and I’m singing songs that have challenged me more than anything I’ve tackled previously. Local theatre gives people opportunities they simply wouldn’t get anywhere else, and I’m incredibly grateful for this one.
But this post isn’t about me.
It’s about this phenomenal cast.
Every single person has worked unbelievably hard, and I honestly can’t wait for people to see what they’ve created. And I have to give a special mention to Edie, who, at just nine years old, is taking on her first leading role for Southport Spotlights and absolutely showing the rest of us how it’s done. She’s remarkable.
My biggest fear isn’t whether my cakes will rise, whether the macarons will crack, or whether I remember which prop I’m supposed to be carrying…
It’s that people won’t come on Wednesday and Thursday.
Because I genuinely believe that once people start talking about this show, Friday and Saturday will be packed and those who waited will miss out.
This production deserves a full house every single night.
So if you’ve been thinking about coming, this is your sign. Grab a ticket. Bring your family. Bring your friends. Support local theatre. Support a cast that has poured its heart into this show.
So don’t be left feeling like a soggy bottom.
I promise you it’ll be worth every penny.
In fact… if you come out genuinely hating it, I’ll refund your ticket myself. (Yes, I’m that confident!)
And finally… if you do come, seeing some familiar, friendly faces in the audience will do wonders for the nerves, because behind all the smiles and sponge cakes…
I’m absolutely bricking it.
