Clap For Carers is returning to Southport and the rest of the UK – and it starts this Thursday!
The organiser of the weekly round of applause wants the popul;ar tribute to take place from 8pm every Thursday night during the third national lockdown.
Annemarie Plas, from South London, helped Britain thank NHS workers and carers during the first weeks of the Covid-19 pandemic, with rounds of applause taking place for 10 weeks.
In Southport, there were also convoys passing Southport Hospital to thank the NHS staff for their life-saving heroics.
The convoys included Bates Dairy milk floats and vehicles, Royal Mail vans and local taxi drivers.

A Clap For Carers convoy took place through the streets of Tarleton and Hesketh Bank every Thursday night during the first Coronavirus lockdown.
And denim artist Ian Berry created a stunning video tribute on Clap For Carers night which he beamed onto the front of The Atkinson on Lord Street in Southport.
Now Annemarie Plas wants to see Clap For Carers return across our nation starting this Thursday.
She Plas tweeted: “We are bringing back the 8pm applause, in our 3rd lockdown.
“I hope it can lift the spirits, of all of us. Carers teacher, homeschooling parents, those who shield and ALL who is pushing through this difficult time! Please join & share! #clapforheroes.”
