Churchtown Pet Boutique is looking forward to celebrating its first birthday, with a combination of great customer service and good quality, nutritious pet food the secrets of its success.

It is among the local, independent shops, bars and restaurants looking forward to the Churchtown Christmas Lights Switch On taking place between 12pm and 7pm this Sunday (26th November 2023).

The shop is currently running a Christmas Hamper giveaway worth £150, with details below, with the draw taking place at the switch on.

Churchtown Pet Boutique, in Churchtown Village in Southport, is operated by a family-run team which is passionate about pets.

Its mission is to enhance the local pet market by offering high-quality pet food and photography with a personal touch.

It provides top-notch pet products and services while offering valuable advice to ensure your pets thrive.

Owner Andy Bate said: “We are delighted to be celebrating our first birthday this December!

“We are really looking forward to the Churchtown Christmas Lights Switch on this Sunday too. I was here for the lights switch on last year, it was a brilliant event with lots going on. It was very busy.

“We will be open all day throughout the event, and are looking forward to seeing everyone.

“It may be a little quieter at this end of the village so people are welcome to bring their dogs here for a little peace and quiet and to say hello.

“Our Churchtown Pet Boutique pet mascot will be out and about during the day amidst the crowds, please send us any photos!”

As the shop nears its first anniversary, it is building a reputation among local pet owners.

Andy said: “We are really trying to get the word out about what we offer and to let people know that we are here!

“We are trying to become better known among the pet owning community.

“We cater mainly for dogs, but we also have pet food, toys and other goods for cats, rabbits, hedgehogs, we have wild seed for birds, and more.

“We’re proud of the service we provide for people. We want to take it back to the old days, where if a customer asks for something and we haven’t got it, we will get it within 48 hours for them.

“One of our big selling points is the quality of our dog food.

“We source our pet food from a local company, GA Pet Food Partners in Tarleton.

“I have been into their factory to see how they make their pet food, which was a fantastic experience. They pride themselves on the quality of the fresh ingredients they use

“With dogs, they are part of your family. People now who are conscious of eating well and eating healthily want to make sure their dogs eat right too. It makes sense.

“Years ago, lots of people felt that ‘dog food was dog food’ and that they could feed anything to their pets, and that any dog food would do. Pet owners are more aware now about giving food to their pets which is healthy and nutritious.

“You can buy dog food in a supermarket, or you can come in here and speak to us about what your dog needs.

“We have food which can help their eyesight, or their joints, or their weight control, or other issues they may have.

“We also offer grain-free pet food, orfood for dogs who are hypo-allergenic.

“It’s important to see the ingredients on the packet.

“Some ingredients that go into some dog food can actually leave your pet feeling hungrier, and it costs you more in the long run.

“We are proud to sell decent pet food with expert advice. We’re always happy to chat with pet owners and offer them any advice.

“We also sell natural dog treats, with everything air dried. We change our stock every two weeks to ensure it is fresh.

“We have lots of regular customers who come back to see us time and time again. But we also have some people who walk in and say ‘how long have you been here’?

“So now we are keen to let people know where we are and what we do!

“We opened on 5th December last year, it has been a really good first 12 months.”

Andy and his team love being part of the Churchtown Village community.

He said: “The great thing about Churchtown is that there are so many superb local independent shops, bars and restaurants here. You won’t find two businesses that are similar, everyone has their own unique offering.

“It’s a brilliant place for people to come to do their Christmas shopping, or a meal out, because they will find something different and will be able to buy it from a local business rather than a big chain.

“It has really improved in recent years, with lots of great new places opening.

“In Churchtown people can enjoy  good customer service and a pleasant shopping experience in a beautiful village.”
