Churchtown is full of cheeky elves – can you find them all?

You can now pick up a FREE map to find all of the elves hiding in shop windows around the picturesque village – with prizes to be won!

It is among fun activities planned as part of this weekend’s Churchtown Christmas Lights Switch On.

Drop your elf sheet off at the Dorothy Mae Salon letter box (on the side wall to the left of the front door) to be in with a chance to win some amazing goodies.

Feeling creative? You could also win £50 in this year’s Christmas drawing competition.

All details are on the Elf Hunt worksheet.

The competition ends at 5pm 15th December 2023.

Families are being invited to enjoy the 2023 Churchtown Christmas Light Switch On.

The popular annual event will take place this Sunday (26th November 2023), between midday and 7pm.

Event organiser Dot Taylor, owner of the Dorothy Mae salon on Botanic Road in Churchtown, said: “This year’s switch on sees some favourites return and some new faces join us in the village.

“The main stage is situated in front of St Cuthbert’s Plantation (the Green in front of the church) and hosted by Hayley Murray and Dune Radio.

“It will showcase the local talent from dance schools, local choirs, brass bands and schools all performing throughout the day.

“The lights on the Christmas tree, kindly donated by JA Jones Nurseries, will be switched on by Father Christmas at 5pm!

“Father Christmas will be spending the rest of his day meeting children at Little Sparks Scandi Grotto. Booking is essential at www.littlesparkssouthport.co.uk

“A second stage by Lucy Lou’s Boutique will have performances all day with local entertainers getting everyone in the Christmas spirit.

“Village shops will be open for you to pop in to start your Christmas shopping with delights from children’s gifts, flowers, chocolates, candles, gift cards and much more.

“Don’t forget your Christmas outfits from the newly expanded Lucy Lou’s Boutique!

“This year we’ve had an amazing amount of local arts and craftsmen offering their wonderful products on the stalls situated by Meols Hall main entrance and dotted throughout the village.

“The Switch On wouldn’t be complete without some festive food! Enjoy a hog roast by The Ready Steady Chef Chris Stead, Pitamu, Bar Crumble and the Vintage Bubbles Truck will all be joining our local restaurants in providing refreshments for everyone attending.

“Local pubs have gone all out with extra covered outside seating and outside bar at The Hesketh Arms so you can soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the live entertainment.

“Silcock’s will bring along some great funfair rides and The Wagging Tail will be hosting a dog show!

“This is a FREE event for all of the family and this year we’re asking the local community to help us support Queenscourt Hospice.

“A Justgiving page dedicated for this event has been set up for us by Queenscourt Hospice and some of the local traders have kicked off the donations in the bid to raise £1,000.

“Any donation, no matter how small is really appreciated and you can donate using this link: www.justgiving.com/page/churchtownvillagechristmaslights
