A care home in Southport could be converted to a residential care home for individuals with Learning Disabilities and Autism to help meet “a clear demand for this service”.
Blue Ribbon Health and Wellbeing has submitted a planning application to Sefton Council to convert The Willows Nursing Home, at 10 Weld Road in Birkdale, to six. self-contained care home units.
The scheme would include alterations to the elevations, and the erection of an extension to the existing outbuilding to create one additional unit (seven units total).
In their application, Blue Ribbon Health and Wellbeing said: “The service will operate as a residential care home for individuals with Learning Disabilities and Autism.
“The accommodation will offer 7 self-contained annexes, enabling individuals with complex needs their own space with access to 24/7 staff support.
“The service aligns with national policy and best practise, including Transforming Care, Right Support Right Care Right Culture and Building the Right Support.
“Furthermore, it will provide much needed specialist accommodation for people stepping down from inpatient settings, thus relieving pressure on NHS services.
“There is clear demand for a service of this kind and as an experienced operator in the Complex Care space, Blue Ribbon are well positioned to deliver this development.”
Blue Ribbon Health and Wellbeing, based in Preston, says that the business is “redefining what it means to provide exceptional, person-centred care for individuals with high-acuity needs, including learning disabilities, autism, and mental health conditions. We’re more than just a care provider — we’re a trusted partner, known for delivering high-quality, individualised support tailored to each person’s unique journey.”
