Lauren King, the Mum of Bebe King, appeared on BBC Breakfast today as she officially launched Bebe’s Hive to a nationwide audience.
Lauren appeared on the famous red couch alongside Poppy Kelly and her Mum, Steph (Bebe’s Godmother) as they were interviewed by BBC TV presenters Jon Kay and Sally Nugent.
They appeared on the show to officially launch Bebe’s Hive CIC, which will be a safe place where grieving children can find creativity and connection.
It is being created in memory of Bebe and supported by Elsie’s Story.
Lauren said in the interview: “We’re here to talk about our project to give grief support for children.
“It’s really special for us. Bebe was so full of joy and she had the biggest heart.
“She was so caring and creative.
“We want to carry on her light and we want to do it with Bebe’s Hive.”

Explaining the inspiration behind the name of the charity, Lauren said: “We always associated the bee with Bebe, even before she was born.
“Hives are extremely nurturing, they are a community, they look after each other, and that is something that is really important for us, that we want to provide for the children of Southport.
“Bees are very cheeky, they are very sweet, they dance to communicate, and Bebe definitely did a lot of dancing, it made sense.”

Jon Kay said: “None of us can imagine what the parents of the Southport victims have been through over the last twelve months.
“This morning Lauren King came in to talk about her daughter Bebe – and how the family now wants to create a permanent and positive legacy in her name.
“Bebe’s Hive sounds like it will be an incredible project – a creative community space for kids and families to come together and heal. Lauren was supported on the sofa by Bebe’s godmother Steph and daughter Poppy.
“Their resilience and shared determination to create some kind of positivity out of such an appalling loss are staggering.
“A privilege to speak to them.”

Poppy Kelly spoke about how she is running 70 miles to raise funds for Bebe’s Hive.
She said in the interview: “Throughout July I am running 70 miles to raise money for Bebe’s Hive.
“I always saw Bebe as a little sister to me.
“Our families are so close. I have always seen Lauren as an Auntie.
“Because I know how it feels to be grieving and other children are obviously feeling like that I want other children to be able to get all the support they can.”
