One of the best micropubs in Merseyside has reopened!
Tap and Bottles, situated in historic Cambridge Arcade in Southport town centre, was twice voted Merseyside CAMRA pub of the year, in 2016 and 2017.
The venue has a very loyal army of followers who have missed the presence of this very unique local offering.
The venue hosted dozens of returning customers as they opened up again yesterday.
Over the last few months of lockdown, regulars have been heartened by the operation of the popular Tap and Bottles online shop and deliveries.
Owner Julian Burgess and manager Luke Randles have ensured that top quality craft ales and other beverages have been making their way to homes in the PR8 and PR9 areas of Southport, a service that will be continuing as normal once lockdown eases.
With the outside area of Tap and Bottles reopening yesterday (Monday, 12 April), guests were finally able to enjoy outside seating in Cambridge Arcade. Bookings will be available for half of the tables.
There are tentative opening hours for their first week with track and trace details being taken, social distancing ensured and great beer guaranteed.
The venue will open from midday each day until ‘early evening’ during weekdays and until ‘late’ on Friday and Saturday nights.
Tap and Bottles owner Julian Burgess said: “We have been looking forward to coming back!
“We are putting tables out in Cambridge Arcade, spaced out in accordance with social distancing guidelines.
“There is currently room for around six tables, with the option for more on weekends.
“Menus and beer lists will be available at each table.
“Bookings are available on just half our tables.
“Please message us via Facebook or email us at: tapandbottles@yahoo.com if you would like to reserve a spot.
“There should be plenty of room for walk-ins.
“Track and trace details will be taken from each member of each party. Please only enter the bar to use the toilets. When you do, mask up.
“While we wait for the weather to warm up, you might need to bring along a coat (or two)!
“John Carlsen, the Highways and Licensing officer from Sefton Council has been very helpful.
“We didn’t want to make our system all bookings as that could put off people who were just going to turn up, but neither did we want to make it all first come, first served.
“We are still doing delivery so if people want to sit in their garden we can bring the good beer to them or if they prefer they can come to us – it will be great to see everyone again.”
